Today we’re highlighting another entry into our “Marketing Your CSA” contest. Small Family Farm in La Farge, Wisconsin is an organic farm growing on about 8 acres of a total 21 acres and growing over 80 vegetables. What I really love about these contest entries is that I have to use Google Maps to find some of them. La Farge comes up as a “village” and is close to Wild Cat Mountain State Park. They are located about 2/3’s of the way between Madison and La Crosse.
They are young, first generation farmers who are hoping to learn as much as they can from the Greybeards who have farmed for decades. The first line of their mission statement sums up the whole of their website.
“To raise a wide variety of vegetables on a small family farm and to serve our surrounding community while preserving as sustainable of a farm ecosystem as is economically viable and ecologically responsible.”
Asparagus to Zucchini
The have a lot of recipes on their website and they feature one of my favorite cookbooks. “Asparagus to Zucchini” is in it’s 3rd generation and is produced by the FairShare CSA Coalition of Madison, WI.
Please check out Small Family Farm’s website and like them on Facebook. We need more farms and farmers like them.
